Michelle Marshall

As a female, black and French photographer, my practice, though not defined or driven by my gender and ethnicity, is imbued with a mix of cultural influences that have contributed to my present visual vocabulary.

From fashion editorials to portraiture, Michelle’s work invites conversations and questions about themes of human connection, perception and identity either as a reflective exercise or a commentary on topical socio-political debates.  Michelle is interested in the exploration of societal stereotypes, cultural precepts and how those inform perceptions of ourselves and the Other. She is currently working on a project exploring AI possibilities, the gaps that may emerge when investigating representations of fashion, and how these can inform her own image making.
